Finnish Food Day

Karelian pastries are an important part of Finnish food culture.
The karelian pastry is one of the best-known and oldest traditional foods in Finnish food culture. Its history dates back centuries, and it has retained its place on Finnish dining tables from one generation to the next.
Finnish food culture is largely based on pure, high-quality ingredients. The simple ingredients of the Karelian pasty – rye, barley/potato/carrot, milk and butter – are a good reflection of Finnish culinary traditions, where naturalness, authenticity and craftsmanship are highly valued.
Many of the ingredients found on Finnish dining tables come from our own pristine natural environment. Forests, fields and lakes provide high-quality ingredients on which Finnish food culture has been built. The Karelian pasty is an excellent example of how humble ingredients can be transformed into something truly delicious and deeply rooted in tradition.
On Finnish Food Day, it is a good opportunity to pause and appreciate domestic ingredients, local food traditions, and the people who help keep these traditions alive for future generations.
Happy Finnish Food Day!
